From parenting tips to book reviews, this is the best of my

Writing.

Urban Times

Urban Times is a locally owned and operated monthly newspaper serving downtown neighborhoods in Indianapolis. They keep downtowners informed about everything, and I had a lot of fun writing the piece "Coffee Culture" about the explosion of new coffee shops and what sets them apart from each other.

The Explorationists

The Explorationists is a website devoted to discovery. It's about trying new places, food, art, and culture, and it was an absolute pleasure to write about my first backpacking trip in Montana for them. Wild fires, bear encounters, poop trowels – out in the wilderness, all the rules change.

Full of Fiction

In 2014 I read and reviewed one novel every week for my blog, Full of Fiction.  I know my audience isn't looking for book reviews that might appear in the Times, so I try to keep them short and to the point while still offering insightful, intelligent analysis of the story and characters. My review of Slaughterhouse-Five is one of my favorite ones thus far.

Indy's Child

My monthly pieces for Midwest Parenting Publications appear

in Indy's Child, Cincinnati Parent, and Dayton Parent. I've written stories on a broad range of topics including foster care, cool after school activities, and playdates gone awry

Indianapolis Monthly

From front of book to small features to fact-checking, I love writing about fascinating people and places for Indianapolis Monthly. My feature, I'm With the Band, explores the world of high school marching bands. Read about what makes downtown Indy such a great place to live on Issuu, or find the perfect DIY class to suit your creative fancy.
